About Kate

Kate Field (she/her) is a Scenic/Experiential Designer and Scenic Artist with a passion for storytelling and creating transformative environments. Hopping between Kentucky and NYC, she keeps busy as an Assistant Professor of Scenic Design at the University of Kentucky, as well as the Scenic Studio Director at LDC Design Associates, serving as Associate Scenic Designer on multiple productions under Lex Liang. She has received numerous accolades for her work in the theatre industry, including two nominations for Best Scenic Design of a Play from the Richmond Theatre Critic's Circle and first place in the 2018 Southeastern Theatre Conference Graduate Scenic Design Competition. She is a proud member of United Scenic Artists, Local 829.

In addition to theatre, Kate has an extensive background in corporate events, festivals, and pop-ups, and frequently provides freelance services ranging from design drafting/rendering to producing and onsite production management. From 2019 - 2021 she worked with Bombshell Productions in Fort Lauderdale, FL, rising up to the role of Creative Design Manager, where she was involved in projects such as Design Miami/, Superbowl LIV, Rolling Loud, South Beach Food & Wine Festival, and the iHeart Radio Music Festival.

Kate holds a BA in Theatre from the University of Kentucky and an MFA in Stage Design/Technical Theatre from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has two cats, Mikka and Momo, loves reading magical books, and has an unyielding belief that it can only be called Bourbon if it’s made in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
